1 litre (or so) Cider
juice 1 orange
juice 2 clementine
1 star anise
3 cloves
1 vanilla pod
1 stick cinnamon (more or less, in my case less)
sugar to taste (a couple of spoons full, probably)
Stick it all in a saucepan and put in on the top of the fire.
After a couple of hours, you can pour into mugs, and lace with calvados.

The weather is so cold in the UK at the moment that I'll give the spiced cider a go this afternoon.
I love Joe Walsh. both in his solo days and as part of the Eagles. We have seen them live a few times and the sound they can recreate live is amazing. Joe still has his distinctive voice and guitar playing, which comes through loud and clear.
Very best wishes to you both for Christmas and 2011 - no doubt we'll read about it in your blog1
Now that sounds delish. Will give it a go as soon as we are chez nous and can put it on top of our lovely poulet - sorry, poele !!
Never tried mulled cider--always make mulled wine. Will definitely give this a go!
Have an excellent Christmas--it was good to meet you last week.
Gaynor: It hasn't been so cold here, but now snowing - a relief in a way after all the rain. Merry Christmas to you and hopefully we will meet sometime soon.
Jean: Or Lulu? She's got plenty of poil.
N&A: Mulled cider is great for any occasion where you are worried about stains - so much less risky than red wine. We enjoyed meeting you and hope to catch up soon - maybe when the weather is a bit less triste.
What about mulled white wine? I think that's what they do in Alsace.
And Simon, two words as a question: French music?
Ken. It just happened to be what I was listening to at the time.
Unfortunately, French music seems to be all about the words, and I'm not a words guy. Not even in English.
Merry Xmas to both of you and to your readers!
Just tried your mulled cider recipe with some friends who dropped by--absolutely excellent!
Joe Walshe was in Oz with the Eagles recently.
Hava a great Christmas Susan and Simon.

Rocky Mountain Way is one of my all-time favourites, possibly one of my 8 for the desert island. I love Joe Walsh's lyrics, way off centre. Tim & I saw Joe Walsh with the Eagles live in Huddersfield as part of their Hell Freezes Over world tour and they played this. Very appropriate if you've ever been to Huddersfield.
Word verification is "exazzot". What you say after too much mulled cider??
