Here is our annual photo of CowslipPrimula veris to usher in the spring. This was actually taken 5 days ago, but I've only just got round to posting it.
Sheila: the wild sweet violets are flowering well in the orchard. Every now and then I catch a whiff of them. I haven't taken any photos though. The ones in the garden at the house are currently in my very good books, doing an excellent job of weed suppressing.
Fraussie: That's the Early Purple Orchid Orchis mascula. I'll check on my local colony today when I'm out butterfly surveying. It's always a delight when they coincide with the cowslips. The one above was photographed at the Early Purp site.

Lovely. Hope to see some violets
soon.
They are amazing this year, as are many of the other early spring flowers.

I'd love to have a go at making cowslip wine, just for the sake of it, but I'd need a really good supply. Perhaps I'd better stick to dandelion. P.
I'm impressed that an orchid looks as though it's about to bloom. It's the one with the spotted leaves. Happy Spring!
