Ferns in the Rainforest


A selection of native Australian ferns growing wild in the rainforest at Ravensbourne National Park on the Great Dividing Range in south-east Queensland.

I just love ferns and these are beautiful.

In my yard in Paris I have a male fern that I brought back from the « wild » in the late forties. I don’t know if it is the original one or an offspring but it is live and well. It grows back every spring. There are some smaller ones scattered around. I have no idea what the lifespan of a male fern can be or any other fern for that matter.

I think ferns are very long lived in general.
