Free at Last

Chenonceau has been released from the scaffolding and safety sheeting that has covered one side after another for the past 3 years. The project to clean and stablise the stone exterior and the leaded windows has finished and the chateau revealed looking more magnificent than ever. The work went right down to the very foundations under the water in the river bed and for ages there was a system of barrages to hold water back and allow the masons access.

Simon took a series of photographs in late March showing this lovely building set off against a burgeoning spring garden and fabulous blue skies.
