Roses at Chédigny

Chédigny is an impossibly picturesque village near us. The best time to visit is the end of May to the beginning of June, when the roses are at their absolute best.

The w/e NOT to visit and admire....
is the Rose Festival.... when it is absolutely packed...
and stands are placed in front of some of the most scenic bits.
A mid-week visit is best... almost all the roses are labelled, so if you like a particular one, it easy to photograph rose and then label...
or vickiworser if that's your inclination.
And you get to see views like the ones above!!
You can also see just how VAST some of the climbers/ramblers can become!!

Ken, Walt and I were there last year, a few days after the festival, and I was amazed at the beauty of this village and the profusion, color and variety of those climbing roses.

We'll be there.
Probably twice - once to see the stalls and razmataz at the festival, then later to actually see the roses!
The restaurant there is very good too, might have to go three times then!

I reckon that's about perfect timing to visit.

Definitely you need to include the restaurant. We use it a lot with clients and it is always a hit.

It should be starting to get pretty good already. Lovely spot. Wanna "Jeanne de Chédigny" for my birthday please.
