The electric arrived between times... Your neighbour has either a new house on the old floorplan... or has also got rid of the dormers! Either way, it looks like the roof angle has been altered.
Susan says "we". I think the photo is earlier. We have a later photo (1939)showing the same man as observably much more properous (I'm being polite),
I would have said about 1920. The man standing on the ground is Georges Poupineau, who married in 1920. In his wedding photo he looks the same shape as shown here, rather than the well fed gentleman of 1939.

The two things we particularly noticed were the dormer window and the electrical wires.
We think the photo dates from between the wars (probably the 1930s).
Nice job blending the two photos. That's really fun to see.
I wish we could resurrect the Dubonnet advert and get rid of the wiring (the posh people up near the chateau have underground services).
On the other hand, I quite like the fact that modern life is in colour.
