This has to be one of the most spectacular views around here - looking up at the ruined castle above the river at Angles-sur-l'Anglin.
And here is a detail - two men in a traditional flat bottomed wooden barque fishing in water that looks like a sheet of dark glass below the mill.

Spectacular, yes, that is exactly what I thought when I saw the first picture. A perfect spot for a painting, non?
The view from the church above, looking down, is horrifying. I can't imagine English soldiers scaling those cliffs.
OH, Susan thank you for the glimpse. YOur pic is great...I remember that view from our now seems long ago trip to Preuilly (remember that is how I ever got to finding your blog?) and this was such a lovely day for us in Angles sur L'Anglin...thanks for the beautiful view.

Carolyn: There is a steep zig-zag path down at least part of the way from the church which I have done. I think this is the tranchée des Anglais that the English used to take the castle in the 14thC.
