Glimpses 3

This garage in Preuilly sur Claise doesn't look remarkable - at first.

As you walk past, however, it becomes evident that something else is going on here...

The romantic me says that this was once a chapel - the practical me thinks it was probably always a barn.

Whether it is from the 13th Century or the 17th century it is hard to say, but it is very much a vernacular piece.

Doesn't it make you wish you could step back a hundred years and then maybe another hundred just to see what was going on here? It does me anyway. It would probably be noisy and smelly and generally very unpleasant. Even so.....

Hi Simon,

Yes; we can say behind every old door or wall, there's a story to be told.
Some people actually do research on homes through what they call "le cadastre" or land registers. We haven't tried this type of research.

But it is also just nice to dream a bit or imagine ;)
