The Hills are Alive...

... with the sound of moosic

Farmers in Switzerland don't have herds, they have carillons.

One of the first things we saw on entering Switzerland was cows wearing bells. We were rather surprised that such a stereotype turned out to be true.

  1. Cows in the Cantal (Auvergne) also are belled like that.

  2. Annette and I found the same thing when we arrived at her sisters home in Altdorf, Switzerland. Although the family home was in a suburban setting there was a paddock and hills in the distance which were occupied by the obligatory dairy cows adorned with bells.
The constant movement of the beasts ensured a steady symphony of dull metallic clunking, always present but never unpleasant.
