Back in
February I posted a series of old photos of Preuilly sur Claise, alongside a modern view from the same place.
While I was collecting images there was one that had me amazed, simply because it seemed so unlikely and I had never heard anything about it previously:
Preuilly Plage

The same view today

An aerial view. The pool is at
the bottom right hand side

A different aerial view. It looks like the old pool is
empty but the new pool has not yet opened

Another view from the same angle,
this time showing the new pool

We have asked around town, and it seems that the beach was there in the late 60's - early 70's, and closed when the swimming pool was opened. When we first ask people about it no-one remembers anything, but when we show the photo we get a glimmering of remembering, but no details. The only detail we do get is that the new pool was opened because the old Maire likes to swim every day.
Is it possible to be nostalgic for something you never knew?
Simon
PS - If anyone has better photos of the beach at Preuilly sur Claise, we would love to see them.
