Last December we went for a drive with Leon and Sue, a day we have written about before. One of the small villages we passed through was Taradale, Victoria, where we came across this structure. It stands opposite the CFA depot, and is a standpipe for refilling their water tankers.
I know it shouldn't have amused us, but we were equal parts amused and
shocked that the sign next to the standpipe is necessary.

The CFA (and its equivalents in other states) is a mainly voluntary organisation who do sterling work in dangerous conditions - not only fighting bushfires, but performing rescues of every kind including traffic accidents, and dealing with hazardous matter incidents.
