Looking from Here to There

This is the view from la Defense, Paris. The Arc de Triomphe is 5km away, and although you can't see it, the River Seine is hidden in there somewhere.

It's probably better than the view from there to here...

Beautiful photo. I was going to ask if it was taken from the roof of the Grande Arche, but a look at Wikipedia tells me the roof and the museum were closed to the public beginning 2010. So, where were you?
As for the Seine, you can only guess, but it coud be tricky!

The photo was taken standing at the top of the steps under the Grande Arche. The Seine is half way between the fountain (Metro Pont de Neuilly)and the black picture frames.

Thank you Simon. Considering the view from the bottom of the Grande Arche, the view from the top must have been amazing. Up to the Louvre?

It’s been more than six decades since I was at the pont de Neuilly, so I thought the Seine would be somewhere behind the fountain and not in front as you say it is. Thanks for the precision.

We were lucky enough to visit the viewing platform at the top. (when we were much younger!) The view is spectacular, sadly our photos are in a box in storage. Did you know the Grande Arche is twisted about 15 degrees everything else along the Champs Elise? We asked the guide but they weren't aware of this and so had no explanation.

6.33 degrees, and purely practical - thats the alignment of the RER and Metro lines. The offset is so they could give the Arche foundations

Wikipedia needs updating then. The roof and museum were open when we were there in September, but at €18 per person we decided we could live without the experience.
