Anchors Aweigh

Two months ago we blogged about an MG with an impressive bonnet ornament.

Last week we may have gone one better:

This was on a 1939 4¼ litre Bentley Drophead Coupé by Van den Plas. I assume the ornament is a representation of the Schneider Trophy winning 1927 Supermarine S.5 racing seaplane, a design that ultimately led to the Supermarine Spitfire as shown on the MG.

A view of the car

This was spotted (along with some others) in the car park at Cheverny, and was participating in the "Jersey Old Motor Club" tour of chateaux of the Loire Valley.

That is a car to polish as if you were carressing it!
Beeee...ute...eyeful!!
And I am also pretty convinced that the bonnet ornament is the Schneider seaplane...
There must be some nice wheels on Jersey...

Is Cheverny Tin Tin territory? I was thinking I might order a sparrow or a floating lady for Celeste's grille. We are off to a drive for tomorrow mornings Petanque game so I may do a post about the morning.
