The Wet

Australia Day is 26 January so we are having a week of Australian themed posts, not just restricting them to Sundays.

Driving through the monsoon towards Darwin on 1 May 2006.

The monsoon season is known as The Wet in Australia and affects the tropical northern quarter of the country, usually lasting from December to March.

It's been very wet on tasmania today with flash flooding in the east. Our relies got stuck in it.

We lived in Darwin for a few years and absolutely loved the Wet, though the mould in our stereo speakers, leather furniture, shoes and clothing was unpleasant, to say the least!

Does that not happen in Bangladesh too? And I'm afraid it happens here, in these old stone houses with wet winters and inadequate circulation of air. We got in our 'old modern' car the other day after not using it for about 6 weeks and the steering wheel was mouldy.
