Give us this day...

Susan and I happened to be working near Blois, so instead of driving up on the day we decided to stay in the area the night before and relieve the stress. This can be a problem in an area new to us, because finding breakfast if you're not prepared to pay for an overpriced hotel breakfast can be tricky.

Luckily, just near we were staying in Saint-Gervais-la-Forêt there is an excellent boulangerie that does decent coffee, good bread (and stuff) and has comfortable and copious seating.

If you're in the area we can heartily recommend Boulangerie Feuillette.

There is nothing like finding a good place for mornings. My local in UK is called The Mucky Duck by me but a welcome, quality coffee and food (not to break the bank) and actually encourage the dog inside. 10/10

Our part-time neighbors who live in Blois most of the year have enthusiastically recommended this place to us. There's another Boulangerie Feuillette in Romorantin, where we go more often. There actually seem to be quite a few locations now, including one in Joué-lès-Tours and one in St-Cyr-sur-Loire.

I would have found it difficult to make just one choice among those pastries!

The bread looks good... but the row, upon row, of "and stuff"...
it is another realm... highly dangerous!!

Yes, it had aspects of a chain and I was a bit suspicious, but inside are photos of previous generations and it appears to be a genuine family business begun by a couple in the late 19C or early 20C. The quality of the product and surroundings speaks for itself anyway.
