Otherwise known as the Common Sydney Octopus (Octopus tetricus), this small specimen was photographed off the same jetty where we saw the Toadfish and the Porcupine Fish. It's a small one - probably 50 cm or so across. Fully grown they can reach two metres.
I must admit I was surprised to see an octopus so close to the surface - the water was less than a metre deep.
