We visited Biarritz on a very hot day in September last year. Here are some pictures of their famous beaches.
Plage du Port Vieux ('old port beach').
Plage de la Côte des Basques ('Basque Coast Beach').
Biarritz was the first place in Europe where anyone surfed.
Snazzy rubbish bin on Boulevard du Prince de Galles ('Prince of Wales Boulevard').
Staircase down to Boulevard du Prince de Galles and Plage de la Côte des Basques.

Only been to Biarritz once and was not impressed, circa 30 years ago, never been back. Think is was hyped up a lot as being the "in" seaside place and I didn't find it so...
No, we didn't take to Biarritz either. I'm told it is a lovely place to live, and out of season though, with a fantastic covered market.
I love Biarritz. would not love in july or august....it's a nice sized town but not a whole lot of cultural things to do hence our daughter & her family decided to move after a few years...but the setting is gorgeous. It is weird watching the live webcam now & seeing completely empty beaches.
I think Biarritz is to be avoided in July, August and into early September these days.
