Over the past couple of weeks I've taken lots of photos of insects doing their thing in the orchard, so here is a selection.

A rather worn male Sooty Copper Lycaena tityrus (Fr. l'Argus myope) on Black Medick Medicago lupulina (Fr. Lupuline).

Iris Weevil Mononychus punctumalbum (Fr. Charançon de l'Iris des marais) on Pyramidal Orchid Anacamptis pyramidalis (Fr. Orchis pyramidal).

No, good light makes all the difference. Plus you are not seeing all the duds.
It's nice to be able to take the time to watch them. All too often these days I'm snapping photos in hope, then having to move on.
A Clearwing pays a visit once a year and it is always nice to see them.
