The municipality has installed new street lights throughout Preuilly. The old lights emitted a yellow light. The new lights are daylight low energy bulbs. The light fittings themselves have been changed too, going from an industrial looking metal shade to an olde worlde gas lantern look. The frame below the bulb is just for aesthetics. There is no glass in it.
New and old together, mid-installation.

Love the new lamps - think the birds will too and discover a perfect place to perch since there isn't a glass wall there. Do the lights also emit any heat? This could be fun to watch!
Oh, good grief! You are right -- every one of them will have a ring-necked dove nest in it!! I don't know how much heat the new lamps give off, but some I would have thought.
Maybe they could put a little plastic "guard bird" in each one - scare off real ones?
Light pollution...
