On Thursday Susan and I went to Écueillé, just over the border in Indre, to
see the Tour de France on its way. We do this whenever the Tour is within
reasonable striking distance of home - quite frankly it would feel churlish
not to do so.
We arrived in plenty of time (this year without one
of the Old Ladies Célestine or Claudette), parked up, and walked to the
centre of town. We secured a good position right on a very tight corner in the
middle of town and waited for ages - and then some.
Here are some
of our photos of the preamble:
I also took a video of the riders and support teams:

Well done for going. I miss the carneval before and all the support vehicles as now having to watch only what the TV provides. It made a great day out even to the cleaners up that filled bag loads of stuff from both Tour and spectators!
You found an excellent position to make this video, right across from the turn. It was almost hypnotic at the end.
Sad to be missing it - if we were able to be at our French house in Vinca we too would be able to see it as it passes through :-(
After seing all these cars topped with bicycles, I was wondering if the runners were going to run on foot?
The caravan is my favorite part, the riders go by so fast I have no idea what's going on. A few years ago it went through our town (Mazan in Provence)and we planned ahead by reserving a table at a cafe situated on a turn entering the village. It was perfect, lunch and the TDF!
