Big Dark Bat

Serotine Eptesicus serotinus, Indre et Loire, France. Photo by Loire Valley Time Travel.

This big (well, in European terms...) dark bat was flying around our garage the other day. Maybe a Serotine Eptesicus serotinus (Fr. Sérotine) I think.

Lovely. When I lived in the Languedoc I had six about that size flying around my attic bedroom for 45 minutes while I tried to sleep. When I got up to open more windows for them to escape they flew very close to me. I do like them very much.
bonnie in provence with fewer bats
