These wonderfully characterful statues of hunting dogs line the entrance to the Logis Royal in Loches.
They are representations of 15th century hunting dogs of the sort used
to chase or bring game down and stand as a testiment to the Valois kings
love of hunting.

They look so lifelike and ready to go from their rather uncomfortable positions!
potty: Yes, they are proper dogs, sculpted by someone who loved dogs. We think they must be portraits of actual individuals.
