Disabled Accessible Beach

Saint Jean de Luz has a section of their Grand Plage ('big beach') set up so it is accessible for those with reduced mobility and/or sight loss.

A specialist assistant is present during July and August. An audio system helps those with sight loss get to the beach more easily. Three adapted chairs, with floats and fat tyres are available so people with reduced mobility can get over the sand and into the water, under the supervision of a professional carer. A boardwalk has been laid down from the street to the specially equipped section of the beach.

The specialist assistants are available to help you with the adapted chairs every afternoon in July and August. From May to September you can come with your own carer and get access to the adapted chairs independently from 11 am to 6 pm, on presentation of your disability card.

Fantastic that they do this. We've not been up to that area in ages.... going to be a bit longer now I think.
