Damp Underfoot

We've know it to be wetter, but we've never been known to receive an emergency flood warning on a bright and sunny day. The warning popped up on Saturday lunchtime, so we went to have a look at the Claise.

To be honest, it wasn't looking as flooded as May 2016, but there were signs that someone had received a lot of rain. The river was flowing as quickly as we have ever seen it, and parts of the guinguette were knee deep in water.

The rivers were even higher yesterday, with a lot of road closures and flooded homes. We didn't go out in the car taking photos: getting in the way of rescues services and the possibility of getting into trouble ourselves isn't really socially acceptable. Having said that, walking down to look at the guinguette wasn't going to cause any problems.
