My Favourite New Toy

Three weeks ago I bought a bass. I didn't mean to buy a bass, in fact this was my shopping list.

All basic maintenance stuff, nothing too extreme.

Then I walked into this very small corner of the shop:

There's no way I could justify buying exactly the same sort of of bass that Paul McCartney played, but Thomann's make their own branded version (it doesn't hurt that they now own Hofner). Nestled behind the original Hofner bases was the in house copy. Who could resist?

It's a really fun instrument to play: very light compared to most basses, smaller, and therefore more comfortable whilst I relearn an instrument I spent 20 years playing.

And I still don't have any gaffa tape.
