Crimson Rosella Platycercus elegans has featured a number of times before on the blog. They are quite widespread in the eastern coast and mountains of Australia so long as there are trees, often coming to gardens, and so attractive, even when you are used to them.
This photo was taken at the Mount Stromlo Obseratory near Canberra on our 2017-18 visit to Australia. The rosella is perched on the outside of one of the telescopes destroyed in the 2003 bushfires.
