This is one of those jobs that an experienced
person makes look easy, but it probably isn't.

The hand shaped slates in place.

PS It's hot, we spent all yesterday painting and sanding the spare bedroom ceiling and floor and then went out to the Ecole de Musique annual fundraising dinner, so we are completely flagada today. The floor has to be varnished today though, to keep us on schedule for visitors on Tuesday.

Working in these temperatures is not fun. I never used to feel the heat in Africa, but maybe it is a case of age catching up with me as well:) Diane
I was looking at this method of finishing slate roof in le GP yesterday... they've re-roofed the school [unfortunately getting rid of the beautiful glazed and moulded tiles at the same time... but they probably paid for the re-roof!]
The finish these slates give to a gable end is truly wonderful... far better than patterned or plain painted board. Looks great S&S... if you need a hand with some of the tidying let us know!
