Timing your visit to Villandry is always best in late summer or autumn. That's because this is a garden that peaks in August-September. But best of all, if you are a local visitor, the gardeners put out excess produce and you are free to take it away. The garden is organic, so this week I helped myself to some peppers. A couple of weeks ago it was pears.
