The Flying Flock

One of our orchard neighbours owns the field next to her orchard as well. Rather than pay someone to mow it for hay a couple of times a year she invites a friend to agist her horses on it for a few weeks. They graze the lush grass and the arrangement suits everyone.

This involves erecting an electric fence and installing a water trough on a temporary basis. The horses are checked on a daily basis by their owner, but they remain unimpressed by my visits, as I do not come brandishing pony treats.
