It's very olde worlde, with wood panelling, copper chandeliers, and faded murals. What sets it apart are Bavarian wall paintings and the inscription Bürgerliches Brauhaus München. The original owners were granted exclusive rights to sell Munich beer, which saved the cafe during the destruction of Leuven by the Germans in 1914. In 1932, the owners relocated to the main square, reconstructing the old interior.
