Walking Lac du Gaube

This is another of the walks we did in July when we were in the Pyrenees.

The first part of the walk was really very easy: we caught the shuttle bus from Cauterets to the Pont d'Espagne, and from there a short telecabine (cable car) ride and a longer telesiege (chairlift) ride took us to the start of a well graded, very level, 1,400 metre walk to l'Hôtellerie du Lac de Gaube.

From there we descended to Pont d'Espagne, which was tricky - lots of descending over huge granite boulders.

From Pont d'Espagne we followed the Cascades Trail. One thing we didn't mention is that although we quite like waterfalls, after about 8 km of continual cascades they all started to look the same. We have many photos of water tumbling over rocks, but can't definitively identify any of them.`

We wrote about the walk soon after we did it (it's here, with photos).
