Since 2010, the Loches Heritage and Culture endowment fund, in association with the City of Loches, has offered financial incentives for the installation of medieval-type signs by shops in the old centre of town.

In keeping with the look and feel of old Loches, these signs indicate the different shops and engage the curiosity of visitors. Created, shaped, painted and hammered by specialized craftsmen, these signs ornament the central streets and have become an additional attraction for tourists.

They add a nice touch, Richelieu has some too. Perhaps its a tourist town trait?

All of those are clever. I think we get more out of them through your photos than we would coming across them in the town. It's much easier to see the details. Thanks once again for giving us another link to remind us of what we're missing about France.

I like them all. My favorites are the hair dresser and Stéphane Berruyer. The big problem with the last one is that flaveurs is not a French word but the Frenchisised spelling of flavor.
A Berruyer is a native from Berri.

I'm trying to think what is the connection between arborescense and a restaurant.

What an excellant use of grant aid for the town.
