Beetles in the Orchard

I picked the sweet cherries the other day and while I was there photographed a nice range of beetles in the orchard.

Spanish Fly Lytta vesicatoria (Fr. la Mouche d'Espagne).

This beetle squirmed and contorted the whole time I watched it. I couldn't work out what was wrong, but maybe the grass seed was irritating it.

False Blister Beetle Oedemera podagrariae (Fr. Cycliste maillot-jaune) on Oxeye Daisy.

Splendour Beetle Ptosima undecimmaculata on a cherry twig.

The longhorn Stictoleptura cordigera (Fr. Lepture de coeur) and Eastern Bee Chafer Trichius gallicus (Fr. Trichie gauloise) on a Pyramidal Orchid.

That thick-thighed beetle Oedemera podagrariae (Fr. Cycliste maillot-jaune).... the French name is vunderbar.... I have always referred to O.nobilis as "Cyclists shouldn't wear Spandex" beetles... never for a moment did I think it was for real!!
Never come across this one, must look it up in my new beetle book!!
My one sighting of Ptosima undecimmaculata was yellow spots, not as Splendiforous as this one... but also on a cherry [sucker by the bridge]
Not had the Bee Chafer here tmk.... but the one I photographed was down by Moulin de Favier.
Nice post apu!
