Buvette de la Halle, Saint Jean de Luz

Buvette de la halle, Saint Jean de Luz. Pyrenees-Atlantiques. France. Photographed by Susan Walter. Tour the Loire Valley with a classic car and a private guide.

The Buvette de la Halle in Saint Jean de Luz gets very mixed reviews. It is an old fashioned market café. 'Buvette' means 'small bar' and a 'halle' is a covered fresh market. We didn't partake of anything there, although we did chat to the bartender. I suspect it is the sort of place that locals get on well with and regulars love, but they don't handle tourists so well. I think it's all about management of expectations, on both sides.
