Red Carpet

A couple of weeks ago we were in Chédigny and the salle des fêtes (village hall) was decked out like this. We thought maybe they were expecting Angela Merkel...

Or Philippe and Mathilde of Belgium.

Good point. I could check the newspaper for clues I suppose. I bet it's a school exchange visit though, or the village is twinning with somewhere in Germany.

I see that Chedigny has created a jardin de cure, to open in May. If you get a good look at it, please let us know. This is already one of the prettiest villages we've seen in France, and if it someday gets a good boulangerie it will be paradise.

Thanks for alerting me to the jardin de cure. I hadn't heard about that. I will certainly blog about it if we get some decent pics at some stage. I agree Chédigny is a really pretty village. Is the baker no good? (I've never been in and it seems to be closed a lot -- maybe permanently?) There's no baguette dispensing machine, so I don't know where the locals are getting their daily staple.

A couple of years ago our village hall in Braye was filled with balloons for a wedding reception. When the newly weds opened the door, all the balloons flew out and the sky was filled with them. Each balloon carried a message with the names of the couple and the date of the wedding! x

I'd heard of that sort of thing, but this didn't look very wedding-y.
