Approaching Blois Cathedral.
Blois Cathedral has recently undergone a major restoration of the exterior. Now it has been unveiled again I thought it would be nice to show some shots of the best bits. The cathedral is essentially a 17th century building.

These gargoyles appear to be flying felines.

That chimp is a bit frightening. Love the first photo with the
contrast of bright light and shade. And how nice that the authorities have added a handrail.
Although there are a lot of steps up to the cathedral they are very shallow (known locally as the petits degrés).
I remember all those steps from my first visit to Blois...th gargoyles seem at odds with the general style of the cathedral, somehow...
It's because it's a 17C building trying to masquerade as a medieval building, sort of.
The second gargoyle is familiar but I'll have to take my binoculars with me next time to observe the others!
