No, me neither, although I assume it used to be a hearth stone for upstairs, and that it stays there by being cantilevered into the wall.Simon

What I forgot to mention is that the stone is over a metre long, half a metre wide, and 15cm deep...
What is going to be below it? Not the new cooker...I hope?!
Of course. If it falls, it falls. It hasn't fallen yet though.
