Yesterday was the first (for us) big car event of the year. Normally we go to
Paris for Retromobile in February, and Blois In April for their "use your old
car" day, but of course nothing this year has been normal. True, in March we
went to a
coffee morning with old cars, but that's all we have done for over 18 months,
Yesterday we
were again at Sainte Maure, this time for a 60th birthday celebration for the
Renault 4L. This involved coffee, a drive in convoy through Crissay sur Manse
and St Epain, and lunch. It rained, but not enough to put a total dampener on
things. Bob and Alison joined us to make it a social occassion, and although
neither Susan nor I took photos, I did remember to turn the video camera
on.

I loved that! One of the things that's such a contrast between France and the US is how unspoiled most of the countryside is in France. It makes a drive on back roads a pleasure.
Simon, did you have to get used to the feeling that your car takes up 3/4 of the road? Compliments on the smooth ride. I did have to brake for you a few times.
Carolyn - every car takes up 3/4 of the road on most of the roads we were travelling yesterday. You get used to it :)
Here in the Vaucluse I often drive on roads where I take up 90% (in a small car no less), everyone figures out where to make room when you have to cross another car. Lovely drive, made more lovely by the car ....
