A Lone Walnut Tree

Mature walnut trees are often left in the middle of fields like this. It is good to see that the non-commercial walnut crop is valued as much as the profitable wheat, canola, sunflower or maize crop the land is annually sown with.

The soil looks like a desert. What an oasis that tree must be.

Paulita: The soil is basically decayed limestone, so it is pale and dries out very quickly on the surface.
