Water Levels

This year the water levels in the river have been all over the place - with no discernable reason.

On 15 October the river was the lowest we have ever seen it

Four weeks later (11 November), and after no real rain, the river was back
to it's normal level. We assume someone opened a weir somewhere

Simon, we've had over 4 inches of rain since Nov. 1.

I bet most of that is in the last 2 weeks. It never rains in Preuilly: all the locals tell us that, so we are liable to be surprised when the water levels rise, because it never occurs to us that somehwere else it may have rained.

Or could it be that because the Etang's nearby have been emptied for cleaning & are now being refilled that the water levels are levelling out again.

We have a house in La Gabriere, and Lac Gabriere was empty in August, loked so strange..

People around Saint-Aignan say it never rains here, too, but it's not true. It just depends on weather patterns. We need a lot more rain now, they are saying.

Details: we got 55 mm of rainfall between Oct. 31 and Nov. 14. Since Nov. 14, we've had another 47 mm. It has been very very rainy.

I just had to leave a comment on account of the word verification being HYDRAT.....

We also noticed the changing levels in October and agree that it is confusing how the levels change, sometimes seemingly out of step withthe climate which makes you think its not all down to rainfall, someone somewhere is controlling them. Which has to be a good thing otherwise with 4 inches in a couple of weeks or so, you'd be flooded out!
